The Secret Sequel - Will it Compare?

When the Secret DVD first came out, and when people heard about it on Oprah, there was a mad rush around the world to get a copy of it and to find out for themselves. I loved it. My eyes were opened. I still count it as one of my favorite movies. Lots of people got really excited about it.

"At last", they cried, "NOW I understand. All I have to do is focus my thoughts on what I want, and change the language in my head. I can manifest ANYTHING I think about. As long as I think about it hard enough and long enough".

"I want to get results - and fast. I don’t want to wait for months or years for my dreams. I am going to practice LOTS of visualizing and positive self talk. I’ll get my Dream Life - NOW"

They eagerly watched The Secret over and over in anticipation that this would bring them their goals. They thought about their Dream all day long. They made Vision Boards and Lists of Goals. They kept a Gratitude Journal.

Now these are all extremely useful tools. Use them. But does only this really work? Can you manifest just like this? Really? This is where The Secret falls short. When you watch it you get the expectation that you can manifest your dream out of nowhere. That belief and faith will automatically bring you what you want. Well - yes and - no! You MUST take action. Mike Dooley says: "Thoughts Become Things"

A friend of mine Gideon Shalwick’s has a great quote that he uses: "Thoughts are only potential things. They become things only through specifically directed action." The Secret DVD only briefly mentions taking action. But it needs to be really spelt out.

Focus on your goal. Visualize it with feeling and excitement. Repeat it in your head or out loud. But here is the important missing bit ….. every time you get a little idea just popping into your head about ways to get closer to what you want, you MUST act upon it. (Bob Doyle says: "You might get some inspired idea of some action to take".) That little idea is The Universe responding to you reaching out saying - "This is what I want".

Thinking constantly about what you want IS important; you must focus on what you want. (John Assaraf says: "You become what you think about most but you also attract what you think about most"). But unless you DO something you are just a dreamer. You are just building castles in the air. "The Science of Getting Rich" was the little book which inspired The Secret DVD. In this book, Wallace D Wattles wrote:

"… man must not only think, but his personal action must supplement his thought. By thought you can cause the gold in the hearts of the mountains to be impelled toward you; but it will not mine itself, refine itself, coin itself into double eagles, and come rolling along the roads seeking its way into your pocket.
Your pocketbook is not going to be transformed into Fortune’s purse, which shall be always full of money without effort on your part. This is the crucial point in The Science of Getting Rich; right here, where thought and personal action must be combined. There are very many people who, consciously or unconsciously, set the creative forces in action by the strength and persistence of their desires, but who remain poor because they do not provide for the reception of the thing they want when it comes.

BY THOUGHT, THE THING YOU WANT IS BROUGHT TO YOU; BY ACTION YOU RECEIVE IT. "

And you must act NOW. Do not wait until you are in the perfect situation, the perfect job, the perfect relationship. NOW is the only time you have.
I love this saying that Sherry in the Organic Fruit and Veggie Shop told me the other day:

PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE
The Past is History
The Future is a Mystery
The Present is your Gift - do it NOW

Put your whole mind and strength and act to the very best of your ability in the situation in which you presently find yourself. Do your absolute best in your current job today to provide service for your customers, your employer and your work colleagues. Be the best you can in all your relationships with every person you meet. Look after your health today as if your body was a sacred temple (it is).

Make every day a successful one. A successful day is one when you have done your very best, when you have been as efficient as possible. You know if you have dallied around and wasted time and energy - having days like that actually take energy from you, disconnect you from The Universe. They don’t feel good - YOU don’t feel good.

Make every day a winner.

Now this doesn’t mean that you should work yourself to the bone, working late with long hours and running around after the whims of other people. That is not successful.

If your days are ALL successful, you are moving in the right direction. Keep holding a clear image in your head of what you want, while being deeply grateful and The Universe will respond to you and bring you closer and closer to your dreams.

So - Does The Secret Really Work?
Well - yes and - no! It has made us aware that we can consciously use our brains to focus our thinking and putting our intention towards where we want to go. And as you change on the inside, you expose yourself to larger possibilities - BUT, when those possibilities come along, then this is the time to ACT.

Do You Have The Millionaire Mind?

Wow!

I just finished reading T. Harv Eker’ s Secrets of the Millionaire Mind. I searched for the book and couldn’t find it in our bookstores, so I went to Amazon.com and got a copy. I was astounded when the book arrived–in a dust jacket, signed by the author.

OK. I’m an author and I sign a lot of books, but when I see signed books from other writers, I really treasure them. I have a whole shelf, but I digress. I really want you to know what a great book Secrets of the Millionaire Mind is. It teaches you to think in a whole new way.

According to Eker, we’re all programmed as children with attitudes about money. If our mothers said to us, ‘We can’t afford it,’ we tend to go through life with that imprint. Or, we don’t think we’re worthy of becoming wealthy. But there are many other scenarios. They all come down to one idea–we have to open ourselves up to the possibility of money. We have to welcome it and EXPECT it to come to us and it does.

Seriously.

I tested this over the past few weeks since I read the book, and maybe it’s just coincidence, but I’ve made more money this month than usual–a lot more. AND, I expect it to continue. I’m just here waiting for it.

Here are some quotes from the book that I found most fascinating:

‘Leaders earn a heck of a lot more money than followers.’

‘There’s nothing wrong with getting a steady paycheck, unless it inerferes with your ability to earn what you’re worth. There’s the rub. It usually does.’

‘Rich people believe ‘You can have your cake and eat it too.’ Middle-class people believe ‘Cake is too rich, so I’ll only have a little piece.’ Poor people don’t believe they deserve cake, so they order a doughnut, focus on the hole, and wonder why they have ‘nothing.”

I don’t know if T. Harv Eker is a genius, but he certainly understands more than just what’s on the surface. You can work hard, pour your life’s blood into your passion, but if you don’t proceed with the intention of getting all that you can, you’ll continue to live hand to mouth until you die.

Pffft!!! to that. Buy the book, and I guarantee that you’ll come away with the same feeling as I did. Perhaps you’ll have a power month, too, which will lead you to another and another. These affirmations are awesome. Just try them for a month, and I know you’ll agree.

What Is ‘the Secret’ Really About? The Universal Law Of Abundance, Pt. 1

Unless you’ve been living in a cave for the last few months, then you’ve probably heard of the phenomenon of ‘The Secret.’ More than likely you’ve heard about the controversy surrounding it. What exactly is ‘The Secret’ and more importantly does ‘The Secret’ deliver on what it promises.

‘The Secret,’ developed by Rhonda Byrne is a well packaged 21st century spin on the Universal law of attraction. A law very well known to students of metaphysics and success philosophy, the law of attraction has existed since the inception of time. The secret of the law of attraction states that the Universe is a thinking universe. It promotes the idea that you can have what you desire by thinking on it. Better yet you will have exactly what you think, because we as humans are always thinking; therefore we’re always manifesting something—–good or bad. What the Universal Law of Attraction says is this: You have control over your own life and can therefore create your own reality.

Understand that the law of attraction exists. There is nothing one can do to go about changing the Law. What ‘The Secret’ is teaching is that if you choose to positively align your thoughts and actions with the workings of this law, then you will receive the best results for your life.

The one concern I had with the film, was that it didn’t go deep enough. It led one to believe that the Law of Attraction was the only law and thereby a person need not do anything else. One of the teachers proclaimed, ‘if you’ve had an accident, then you attracted that accident…’ While I don’t completely agree with the delivery of that statement; the teacher gave us no further examination or an explanation, other than if you think bad, then you’ll have an accident. The media has chosen to take a few signatures from both the book and film and literally blow some of those statements out of proportion. Hence the trouble and controversy began to brew for the film. Each teacher has had to individually interview with various news programs in order to ‘clean up’ or elaborate more on what was said in the film. Quite a few of the teachers associated with the film have revealed that there are more laws and that ‘The Secret’ is a good starting point.

No matter what your individual beliefs are, there have been clear misgivings surrounding the Universal Law Of Attraction. I do not personally endorse ‘The Secret’ nor do I not endorse it, but I too believe that it is a great tool and introduction to The Law of Attraction, which many metaphysicians and success philosophers have given empirical evidence that the Law does work and is real.

Abundance, security, and relationships are the essence of what people desire. Aligning oneself with the Law Of Attraction can bring the desires of success and abundance to fruition. Fortunately, there are online courses available to teach one how to tap into the power of the Universe and begin to attract enormous wealth and success. What Can The Sedona Method Do For You?

What is the history of the sedona method and does it really work?

I have outlined here a quick history of the sedona method for those who are interested.

The Sedona method began its life with a man called Lester Levenson. When Lester was 42 he had suffered his second major heart attack and was sent home to die. His doctor told him he had only weeks and perhaps days to live so he should not exert himself and stay in bed.

Before the creation of the sedona method Lester was a materialist having been trained as a physicist. He only believed in what he could see and touch and had no spiritual or metaphysical interests. However, when he was confronted by his own mortality Lester began to question the meaning of life, his role on the planet and why he was here. The sedona method began to evolve as Lester asked himself again and again "what is the meaning of life? Why am I here? And what do I want?"

Once he began to question his life and what it was he wanted Lester found that the answer was happiness. He wanted to be happy. When he was loving, he found, that he was happiest while when he was seeking love from others he was unhappiest. So Lester slowly changed all his unloving feelings to love and watched in amazement as his body began to repair itself.

Lester discovered that he had been wanting to change the past for many years and had allowed this to control his thinking. He also found that he had been seeking approval or love from others so that he could feel safe. He then discovered that these thoughts had been creating negative experiences in his life and that the thoughts were driven by the negative emotions. After the initial shock of this discovery Lester went on to create the sedona method. He used the sedona method to remove these feelings and within 3 months his illnesses (of which there were many) were completely cured!

The sedona method is a powerful technique to eliminate negative thoughts and feelings on the spot. By using the sedona method to free himself from his self-imposed limitations Lester healed his entire body within three months. Within 6 months of actively releasing negativity with the sedona method he was a millionaire!

By removing his resistance to the past and present and by not allowing himself to try and manipulate the future Lester was physically well and a millionaire in a short period of time just by using the sedona method.

It is well known in self improvement circles that the biggest hindrance to growth, material and spiritual, is negative thoughts. By using the sedona method to remove this negativity your thoughts become clear and extremely powerful. They materialize in the world very quickly.

The Sedona Method works on the premise that our feelings are the driving force behind our thoughts. The sedona method teaches you to release your negative emotions that are driving your negative thoughts.

To understand the benefits of the sedona method you must experience it. This is a tool that must be used to get benefit from it. Reading about the sedona method will achieve nothing. You must do it! Even after your first release you will feel the difference. You experience lightness in your body like a weight has been lifted from you and are left with a giddiness that is intoxicating.

Negativity doesn’t stand a chance against the sedona method!
